CHOOSING FROM THE PHOTOS YOU TREASURE

A favourite photo. A familiar face.

Look through the photographs you already have and choose one that feels most like them. It doesn’t need to be a professional portrait — a favourite everyday moment can mean the most.

Look for familiar detail

Among the photos you have, look for one where the eyes and face are easiest to see. Clear detail helps, but their expression matters too. If your favourite is a little soft, you can still start with that.

Choose a well-lit face

Look for an existing photograph where the light lets you see their features. Pictures with fewer deep shadows or bright reflections usually give us more detail to work with.

Check the framing

If you have a choice, pick a picture where their face is a good size and the ears and features you love are visible. Don’t worry about a busy background or crop the original tightly.

Send the original

Upload the original, full-size photo where possible, rather than a screenshot or a compressed social-media copy. No need to crop it tightly or turn it black and white.
