Start with the familiar.
Wide-open eyes are lovely, but a sleeping photograph can be just as recognisable. Send the picture that feels most like your cat. Keep whiskers, ears and the face in frame where possible.

A sleeping pose can work too
Your cat does not need to be looking at the camera. A favourite sleeping pose, an alert face or a seated portrait can all make a recognisable memorial. For a longer-haired cat, choose a photo where the outline is visible and the face is not lost in shadow.
Whiskers need breathing room
A large portrait should still leave a comfortable space around the ears, whiskers and fixings. The free sketch shows the whole plaque layout, including the name and inscription. A landscape composition can put the words beside the portrait; an upright design can place them below it.
A memorial or a celebration
